Banana Chips

This is a rather affordable snack that can be bought from a lot of places. Banana chips are usually made from under-ripe bananas, fried till it’s crispy, left till they are dehydrated, and sometimes covered in sugar (as preservatives). It’s a tasty delicacy that are both crispy and sweet! Banana chips makes a good alternative from the normal potato chips.

Do you know that you can make your own Banana Chips at home too?

Ingredients

4-6 raw bananas (slightly under-ripe)
1/2 litre oil (or 2 to 3 cups of canola oil)
Salt for taste (optional)
Freshly ground pepper or red chilli powder for taste (optional)

Method

Peel one banana and slice it thinly.
Heat up the oil in a deep fryer or deep-bottomed pan over 325 F over medium heat. the oil should be at least 1/2 inch depth of oil. Add in the banana slices (in batches) and fry till they are crispy. It should take about a minute to two to do so. Remove the bananas with and transfer them to paper towels. Let the chips dry on the paper towels. Add salt or pepper or chilli powder for a boost in taste. You can also create your own sauces to dip this delicious snack in.

Some sauces/dips you can have your chips with are; chocolate, honey, or milk.
